Campus London, Google’s centre for supporting the UK’s startup community, has announced the launch of its dedicated “Tech for Good” residency. The four-month growth-stage programme will see Campus London house and support six promising startups from the tech-for-good sphere. The programme offers residents access to the Campus London community, Google resources and global industry experts, as well as tailored technical and business support.
The new residents were selected from hundreds of applicants and chosen based on their potential for delivering technological innovation, and harnessing the power of technology to improve daily living. The founders pitched to a Google panel and a select group of VCs from the Google network including: Google UK, Google Cloud, programme partner Seedcamp, accelerator for good Bethnal Green Ventures and diversity-focused venture capital firm Zinc VC. The move sees Campus London work to support a growing sector estimated to be worth $12 trillion globally over the course of the next 10 years.
The chosen startups for this exciting programme include:
- KareInn– An intelligent care planning software for residential and nursing care homes that brings staff and residents together, unlocking the power of data to generate meaningful insights to develop care.
- Spill – An app which aims to change the perception of talking therapy through daily direct contact between a patient and counsellor.
- Alice – A decentralised network using blockchain to help identify and scale social and environmental projects.
- GTN – Combines ML and quantum physics to efficiently discover innovative new drug-like molecules, creating substantial efficiencies in the drug development cycle.
- Labstep – Captures real-time scientific process data to make lab research more reproducible.
- Sci Apps – Specialises in portable analytical instruments which can identify any compound, any mineral, any element — anyplace on the planet. Empowers consumers to make decisions for themselves by aggregating expert evidence & research across 230k+ ingredients in skincare products.
Amrit Dhir, Head of Campus London says: “The goal for our first ‘Tech for Good’ Campus Residency is to bring together exceptional individuals who share a passion for building a better t world for everyone. We offer founders unparalleled access to resources such as mentorship and Google teams and tools, all which enable them to collaborate with Googlers, with each other, and with entrepreneurs across our global networks. ‘Tech for Good’ seeks to harness technology by enriching the lives of those far beyond the startup community and tech industries”
Founder of machine learning and quantum physics startup, GTN, Noor Shaker comments: “This is an invaluable opportunity for us to broaden our network and learn from industry experts how to use internal tools for rapid growth, and most importantly, tap into Google’s expertise in areas like machine learning. We are so passionate about the service we are providing and are excited that Campus London is too. Currently, the cost of developing drugs has led to pharma companies withdrawing research into rare and complex disease areas. Our technology has the potential to lower research costs substantially, with a view to making life-saving medicines more accessible to people, potentially saving millions of lives.”

Spill is using technology to bring the benefits of talking therapy to the public. As co-founder Calvin Benton explains, “think of all the small (and not-so-small) life problems that most of us ignore or suppress every day, whether that’s an argument with your partner or feeling undervalued at work. Our fully-qualified Spill mentors are here to offer support, analysis and guidance to help people overcome these problems – and in doing so improve their relationship with both themselves and others. We believe that the world is crying out for a product like Spill right now, and this Residency program is the best possible platform to help us craft and scale our offering.”
