Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has opened a tender notice valued at £100k, for the procurement of a digital dental management EPR system.
The trust notes the system must be able to provide a number of services, such as referral management; diary and appointment management; text reminders; clinical record keeping; SNOMED coding; automatic submission of completed treatment to NHS BSA; and the ability to analyse activity data. Adding that, the tool should be able to integrate their clinical record with digital radiographs and its “associate software” in order for them to “see images across multiple clinical sites”.
Its procurement aligns with the trust’s “digital by default” target, which was listed as a key element of their sustainability action plan, published last year to support aims for net zero carbon emissions by 2040. In the plan, the trust outlined the necessity to reduce the use of paper “and other savings associated with digital appointment and patient letters”.
The contract is said to last for a 5-year period, with interested suppliers encouraged to submit their interest via the Atamis e-sourcing portal no later than the 20 March 2025.
Digital procurement in health and care: the wider trend
The Black Country ICB published a prior information notice for the procurement of a remote monitoring and virtual ward platform. Valued at £600k with an estimated four-year timescale, the procurement outlines key requirements for the chosen platform including agility and the ability to respond effectively to “evolving technology and operational requirements”.
Earlier this month, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust published a tender notice for implementation services and support for its Cerner Millennium (Oracle Healthcare) electronic patient record within maternity services. The contract is valued at £200k with work scheduled to take place between April – October 2025, with an emphasis on completing the project as soon as possible.
In January, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was seeking the procurement of a patient engagement portal solution, with a budget of £800,000. The trust sought a solution that could interoperate with multiple electronic patient record systems, as well as a number of other essential requirements.
