EBO.ai expands into the UK

EBO.ai, an artificial intelligence company, has announced the opening of its new UK office. The company was initially founded in Malta.

“AI has the potential to change every business. As operating budgets are squeezed and the need for a better customer experience grows, EBO.ai presents a technology solution that can help to kick-start profitability. EBO.ai consists of multiple technologies that help our ‘bots’ comprehend, learn and act on human input.” said Dr. Gege Gatt, CEO of EBO.ai.

“From our UK office, we are now operating across both the banking and healthcare sectors. There is a clear need for intelligent automation in both of these markets, as well as the real-time management of customers. EBO.ai helps companies streamline their operations and provides the technical muscle – through Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning – to augment a company’s labour force and generate greater business returns.”

Torbay and South Devon NHS FT rolls-out ePMA

Dedalus has rolled out its Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) solution at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.

The roll-out which took place at the end of January, covered six medical wards, one ambulatory unit and two emergency admissions units.

Gill Otway, IT Programme Manager mentioned; “The preparation for the roll-out was very thorough with as much clinical process evaluation, system configuration and pre-event training done as possible – although some training still inevitably had to be done during the weekend for bank nurses etc.  It was a superb team effort with all key staff well prepared in advance and the wards fully expecting and ready for the change.  Plus, there was a lot of behind-the-scenes support of our ePMA in Procurement and from Mike Green our CCIO.”

Dr Joanne Watson, System Medical Director, added; “The roll-out was a brilliant team effort and has been such a success that we want to spread to our remaining two adult medical wards and our five community hospital wards relatively quickly – hopefully by April. Not only can we reduce medication errors but we can also take more efficient control of Pharmacy and Formulary stocks to reduce costs.  And by stimulating a more efficient discharge of patients and supplying GPs with complete drugs and treatment information, we can begin to avoid unnecessary readmissions”

First 4K integrated theatre in Scotland unveiled by Olympus at University Hospital Ayr

Olympus has unveiled its latest ENDOALPHA integrated theatre at University Hospital Ayr – the first 4K integrated theatre in Scotland.

Offering four times the resolution of High Definition (HD), the VISERA 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) camera platform provides brighter, colour-rich images and enhances depth, transforming procedure clarity and creating a fully immersive operating experience.

Professor Majid Ali, Clinical Director of Surgical Specialities and Consultant in General and Upper GI Surgery at University Hospital Ayr, said: ‘It is an exciting time for us. Our new integrated theatre has opened Ayrshire and Arran up to exceptional opportunities. It means we are more appropriately equipped as a centre for training in laparoscopic surgery. It also enables us to teach and share medical knowledge nationally and internationally, putting NHS Ayrshire & Arran on the map. In addition, it will significantly improve our ability to recruit and retain high quality surgeons, theatre staff and trainees. All of this means that we are better able to benefit the health and wellbeing of the people of Ayrshire, Arran and beyond.’
