iPLATO Healthcare targets US expansion

iPLATO has appointed Commonwealth Health Advisors to support its expansion across the United States.

Commonwealth Health Advisors won the contract following a competitive pitching process to help the company expand its patient engagement platform.

The company has grown rapidly in the UK with its medical app, myGP. The app already has 1 million active patient users and simplifies access to healthcare through mobile appointment booking, repeat prescription ordering, care navigation powered by AI, telemedicine and remote monitoring.

iPLATO’s CEO Tobias Alpsten commented “We are very excited to be working with Commonwealth Health Advisors to scope, plan and expand our platform to market in the US. The team’s expertise, experience and knowledge really set them apart from their competitors and I am confident that with their guidance and support we can make real waves in the primary care market across America.”

The company is currently working with US based The Epilepsy Foundation on medicine adherence. The HIPAA compliant service titled ‘Texting 4 Control’ helps people living with epilepsy take better care of themselves through support services including SMS reminders about medication as well as motivational messages and the possibility to record seizures, injuries, rescue medication or emergency room visits.

In 2018, $3.65 trillion was spent on healthcare in the United States – the highest in the developed world.

Commonwealth Health Advisors will develop the strategy and market segmentation for the expansion, and they will also develop a pilot program in which the technology will be trialled with select, dedicated primary care partners.

David Bjork, CEO of Commonwealth Health Advisors commented “We are delighted to be working with iPLATO. The work that they have done in the UK is fantastic and very relevant to the market challenges we face here in the US. We are excited to assist them in bringing the platform to the US. Being a part of their journey is a privilege for our team.”
