Nine care homes in North East London have connected to the London Care Record, to provide access to information on allergies, test results and care plans as well as GP data and hospital discharge summaries.
The London Care Record brings together local sharing systems from each of London’s five Integrated Care Systems, as well as Hertfordshire and West Essex and Milton Keynes, to allow different health and care providers from across London and its surrounding areas to view information.
It now means that 50,000 professionals across the capital and neighbouring areas are using the London Care Record each month.
As part of the pilot project, care homes in North East, North West and South West London will shortly be connected to the London Care Record. The programme then aims to provide a detailed evaluation and plan on how to roll the platform out more widely across London.
Harpreet Shergill, NHS London Digital Health & Care Lead, commented: “We want to ensure that our dedicated care home staff have the tools they need to deliver the best possible care for their residents. So it is great news that the first care homes in the capital are now connected to the London Care Record giving them access to more comprehensive health information about their residents. I look forward to more care homes being connected in the coming weeks which will support even more frontline staff in their important work.”
