With the ADHD diagnosis and treatment backlog continuing to escalate, ADHD Select is providing NHS organisations with a clinically governed, technology-enabled model to help address one of the most pressing challenges in neurodevelopmental care.
ADHD Select is a digital-first, CQC-Outstanding rated end-to-end care model designed to reduce wait times and relieve strain on NHS services. The solution provides early-stage triage, psychiatrist-led assessments, medication management, ongoing coaching, and digital resources for patients; all delivered within a framework that is clinically safe, nationally scalable, and compliant with NHS standards.
Available under the NHS Right to Choose framework, ADHD Select enables patients to access support without strain to their local Trusts, and without requiring lengthy reconfigurations to existing services. The service is already live across multiple regions and has been designed to work alongside or supplement local provision, giving patients timely access to care and offering Trusts a practical, cost-conscious alternative to long waits and overwhelmed clinics.
Why it matters
Across the UK, ADHD waitlists are now at crisis point, with tens of thousands of individuals awaiting assessment. According to ADHD UK, up to 2 million people remain undiagnosed, and in some areas, wait times have reached up to eight years, leaving patients and families without support and delaying access to diagnosis, treatment and advice. The consequences of such delays are significant, impacting education, employment, mental health, and frontline NHS services already under pressure.
Unlike traditional services that focus solely on diagnosis, ADHD Select supports patients between appointments with wellness check-ins, lifestyle guidance, and structured behavioural coaching. This reduces the risk of escalation into crisis services and improves continuity of care for individuals who would otherwise fall between gaps in provision.
ADHD Select is being rolled out nationally to support patients and NHS organisations across the country, offering a clinically robust, cost-effective alternative to traditional ADHD services. Delivered through the NHS Right to Choose framework, ADHD Select is already helping to reduce wait times, free up clinical time, and deliver better patient outcomes across both adult and paediatric pathways.
Accelerating access across ADHD pathways
The ADHD Select model brings together consultant psychiatrists, specialist nurses, and wellbeing coaches to form one of the largest ADHD-focused clinical teams in the UK. ADHD Select offers patients access to digital self-assessments, symptom tracking, lifestyle tools, and direct bookings with clinicians: all through a simple, online interface. For many, it will be the first time they’ve been able to understand and manage their condition with professional support.
The impact is also being felt at system level. With increasing demand and financial constraints, NHS Trusts and ICBs are seeking new ways to manage ADHD care more sustainably. ADHD Select functions as a digital front door: capturing and stratifying patients, easing pressure on overstretched services, and ensuring that high-risk cases can be prioritised. The platform offers a structured model of care that supports both NHS and private patients, allowing for safe, compliant, and scalable delivery.
With ADHD contributing to poor mental health, reduced educational attainment, workplace absenteeism, and increased reliance on crisis services, the cost of inaction is high. ADHD Select has been designed not only to improve patient wellbeing, but also to support systems in delivering the kind of long-term, joined-up care that is now urgently needed.
