Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has signed a new five-year deal with Civica for its electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) system.
The tool forms part of the trust’s digital transformation programme to develop more patient-facing and self-management technology, improve data analytics and interoperability between systems.
It means, by accessing the cloud based system, clinicians can collaborate electronically to share medication information between locations and it also provides access to this information from anywhere.
Beth Lawton, Chief Digital and Information Officer, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, commented: “As a growing mental health Trust, it’s vital we have flexible digital solutions in place which can be integrated with our existing clinical systems and have the scope to meet changing future demands.
“We were looking for a long-term partner with dedicated experience in EPMA for mental health. Civica Prescribing will offer our front-line staff a clear workflow to help them safely prescribe and administer medications, as well as reducing risk and increasing safety for all our patients.”
Steve Brain, Executive Director, Health and Care at Civica, added: “Civica Prescribing will provide Sussex with a significant range of safety, quality and operational benefits to support both local and national strategic health objectives now and in the future.”
Recently HTN covered the news of Greater Manchester Mental Health signing a £10m deal with the company and Kent and Medway has also recently selected Civica’s Prescribing technology.
Earlier in 2021, HTN hosted a fantastic talk by Beth Lawton, CDIO, who joined us for HTN Now to share her processes, learnings and experiences to encourage others and help the audience to avoid common pitfalls. In the session, she covered many aspects of digital journeys, from continual user engagement and agile project management to pilots and iterative development.
Also in late 2020, HTN interviewed Sam Allen, CEO, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, where we spoke about the past year, leadership, technology, culture, people and lots more.
