Updata has been awarded a five-year contract by Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHNHSFT) to supply and manage IT networks for healthcare organisations in the region.
As part of the contract, which was awarded following a competitive tender, Updata will manage a wide area network (WAN) and provide local area network (LAN) infrastructure and services for a range of organisations covering 140 sites, including hospitals and GP surgeries. Updata will also install a virtual private network (VPN) solution, allowing users to work remotely.
The contract is managed by Countywide IT Services on behalf of GHNHSFT, one of the largest hospital trusts in the country, employing more than 7,000 staff and providing high quality acute elective and specialist care for a population of more than 612,000 people.
Updata will also work with eight partner organisations of the Trust as part of the contract, including Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust (GCS), Central Southern Commissioning Support Unit (CSCSU) and the Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group.
Zack Pandor, director at Countywide IT Services, said: “We are pleased to be working with Updata to enhance the network facilities across the Trust and our partner organisations. The new contract will provide greater flexibility, service transparency and value-for-money, while improving the service for staff.”
Béatrice Butsana-Sita, managing director at Updata, said: “As part of the Capita group, we work with healthcare organisations across the country and understand the challenges they are facing, including the need to reduce costs while maintaining service levels. Our work to install and manage networks for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust Foundation and their partner organisations will help them to meet those challenges, while enabling smarter ways of working for their staff.”
