For a recent poll, we asked our audience: two years from now, how many GP clinical system (core electronic health record) suppliers do you think there will be: 1-3, 4-5, or 6+?
The majority of respondents thought the most likely answer would be “1-3”, with this option attracting 43 percent of votes, including from a chief architect, a technical delivery manager, a digital support technician, and a CDIO.
Coming in second was “6+” with 34 percent of votes, from roles including CDIO, digital senior project manager, operational/technical programme delivery lead, digitalisation project manager, and founder..
In last place was “4-5” with 23 percent of votes, including from a CCIO, healthcare architect and technical leader, senior operations manager for virtual ward, information security officer, and personalised care capability lead.

EPR trends and future directions
Earlier this month, OX.DH shared its part in the NHS Tech Innovation Framework to increase innovation and choice in the primary care IT market. The supplier shared how it’s working with forward thinking GP practices and PCNs, who are looking to address the critical issues of inefficiency, outdated systems, and fragmented data and care.
In a feature from the end of September, Gary Mooney from InterSystems talked about the current and future value of EPR solutions, looking at EPR models, value themes, delivering value, EPR evolution, and more. HTN also took a deep dive into EPRs, looking at contracts, market analysis, go-lives, insights from digital leaders, usability, and system alerts.
Following on from our chat with Nick Roberts and Jason Jones from Rackspace Technology about the tangible benefits that can be delivered to the NHS through leveraging cloud, HTN caught up with the pair again in October to discuss the benefits of sovereign cloud services, the wider market, and how cloud impacts the healthcare workforce.
