NHS Tayside has signed a five-year contact with Alcidion, a health technology provider, to deploy an electronic monitoring system known as Miya Observations.
The early warning system, formerly named Patientrack, provides healthcare professionals with an ‘improved visibility’ of patients and has been introduced to support patient safety.
NHS Tayside will employ the system across 975 beds, in which clinical staff will be alerted when patients show signs of deterioration and intervention can be applied to focus on those in need of immediate assistance.
The system, in use across health boards in Scotland, is reported to help prevent negative clinical outcomes for patients, as well as managing risks around deadly conditions.

This agreement represents recognition of the benefits that are realised through capturing key clinical data at the bedside, and reporting and acting on it in real time.”
